$80 per hour, $65 per 45 minutes, and $45 per half hour, for a single student. Private piano lessons are usually scheduled once a week for a 30, 45, or 60 minute session. Payment in advance for the upcoming month is due at the first lesson of each month. Family discounts are available for two students in one family ($40.00 per student for a half hour lesson).
Ideally, at least 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule a lesson, except in case of illness or emergency. If a lesson is missed without prior notification, there will be a “no show” fee equal to the lesson fee. Cancelled lessons will be credited towards the following month if a makeup lesson cannot be scheduled.
While an acoustic upright or grand piano is preferred (and is essential for advanced students), beginning and intermediate students can use an electronic keyboard that has weighted keys and is “velocity-sensitive.” For a list of suitable electronic instruments, please contact us.
For children under seven, regular daily practice of 15-20 minutes is recommended. Children between 7 and 10 should strive for consistent daily practice of at least 30 minutes. As students progress into an intermediate level, daily practice of at least 45 minutes is recommended. Adults benefit most from at least 45 minutes of daily practice.
Art of Piano’s curriculum is rooted in traditional classical piano repertoire from the Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Contemporary periods. Lessons can, of course, be supplemented with other types of music the student may enjoy (jazz, popular standards, Disney songs, etc).
For optimum sound and performance, we recommend that you tune your piano twice a year. Please email us for a list of recommended registered piano technicians in the South Bay area.
